St. Mary's Cathedral

I have been wanted to visit St Mary's , we finally took the time after class today for a quick walk down there, it's only a few blocks from our hotel.  We can hear the bells chime the hour from where we are.  As we head out the tower stokes six.  Such a sweet welcoming sound.  When we arrive I am taken back by the red tree in front.  It is a massive tree standing very strong at the front of the church.  Many children died during the famine, they are buried under this large grand tree in a mass grave.  I feel for those wee lasses and the parents that had to let them go.  The tree stands as if protecting the little ones buried below.  What a tribute to young lives taken too soon.

We were unable to enter the church as mass had started,  I hope to return to see the I side before we leave.

  1. To be in a church that has such a rich history, would be amazing!
