Travel : Hotels

What a vast difference in the hotels we had stayed at so far

The Bedford in London was a very old hotel.  Old but quaint  Maria tells us often in London the old grant mansions were turned into hotels.  It is common to have to share a bathroom with other guests.  A private bath in your room is an upgrade. The room was very tiny with twin beds. The toilet was separate then the bath which works well for roommates. It was an adventure to get off the tube and walk four blocks with our rolling luggage in tow to the hotel. Strange site to me but very common there.  Our hotel was very much in the thick of things which made it very easy to get around.

The Maryborough in Cork was a spa and the most luxurious spa I have been at. We were greeting with hot chocolate and baileys.  Our luggage was taken to our room for us as we were being served our hot chocolate.  In our room we found a fluffy robe and slippers.  The room was massive with a little sitting area outside.  The tub was huge, it made Ryan very happy. He stands 6'7" so for him to fit  gives you an idea how big it is.  Every evening we enjoyed the thermal pools, I treated myself to a massage.  There was a full size pool, hot tub and exercise room.  I found a very pretty little courtyard that I enjoyed a few hours in the sun. This hotel was a half hour walk from the little town or Douglas so farther out but we were here to relax and refresh,  this was the setting of course with Maria.  This is where the rest of our group joined opus,  we are no longer 9 were are 23. With 5 more people from Ireland joining just for the Angel course

The Eviston House Hotel in Killarny is a Best Western,  it is more of what we are used to in Canada, the rooms are large to date there has only been twin beds here we have one double and one twin,  the bathroom is smaller but it has a large tub.  Hot water seems to be a problem. The first morning I had the coldest showers ever,  it sure woke me up.
This hotel is on a Main Street in Killarny,  so we are back in the thick of things which is great we can wonder out at night to all the little pubs and shops

The breakfasts have all been consistent. Always an abundance of soda bread which is a dark Irish bread made without yeast,  the texture is very much like a loaf, it is so delicious.  There is always baked beans, black pudding, grilled tomatoes, sausage , back bacon, eggs, plumes, grapefruit, oranges, yogurt and cereal.  Oh and smoked fish.  What a feast.
