History. It never was my favourite subject. Nor have ever thought I was even really interested in it. You know the facts the dates. Yes I love historical romances. And love reading about how people lived in Victorian times or pioneers, Vikings, Romans Egyptians... But I never considered it real history. But being here in London I realized history isn't all about the dates. It's the people, the life styles , the heritage. And I find it fascinating. I have only had an ever so tiny taste and I am hooked. I know I will return to this amazing place some day and take more time to absorb it in. To look at a building and to see the date it was established. Here they date back to 1800 some even 1600. How they have stood for so many hundreds of years -- hundreds!!!! The people that have been in these buildings, the energy imprints they have left behind. The stories the walls could tell, and the secrets they hold. Yes History. I will never think of it the same again.

I am LOVING your writing, Eggie! Seriously! I had no idea as I have never ever read any of your writing before! Do consider giving the family your blog address. It is really really brilliant. But of course, I understand if you want to be low key! :0) Some day I would love Ellie to be able to read this. You just paint such an amazing picture of London. And I know exactly what you mean about history! I never really GOT IT either until I went to Germany and visited the castles, and ruins, and an old music museum. Stuff was from the 1400's, 1500's, and I have a piece of an old castle ruin, just a tiny piece (shhh, don't tell anyone) and it still sits on my dresser to this day, and I think what stories could this little chunk of that castle tell. I remember sitting in the window sill of that castle over looking Switzerland and imagining who else sat there hundreds of years ago? What did they think about gazing out at the same view. You are exactly right, history is the living breathing people and lives. LOVE IT! And love you!
